It's good to know your Cruzer Fit works. Mine does too but only for the first stage of the install. I did format the drive and restarted the install process following the upgrade documentation. It installs some packages, setups the WiFi and reboots. After the reboot I can see the "Pirate Box - Share Freely" SSID but when I ssh to router and run dmesg I still get the error about not enumerating the USB device. That's as far as I get. You are right about unmounting the USB drive...I usually do, just got frustrated.
