well as you don't know where you kept stuck last time, I recommend to use the failsafe to get access to the device, run "mount_root" and then look around in the configuration files.

The flaw on the MR3040 is, that you have no LED indicating, that pushing reset worked. The only thing that can help you, is that you connect the notebook before powering the device and run
ping 192.168.1.1
you will see that the output will change, that you can cancel the ping using CTRL+C and try telnetting the device
