Okay, my PirateBox is back online! (well, actually offline ;)) I copied all the files off the read-only Sandisk Cruzer Fit to a cheap Lexar drive, which probably won't have the same issue, then plugged it into the MR3020. WiFi connectivity is fine now.
The new Lexar drive is formatted FAT32 and has the exact same partition name as the old Sandisk one, "PirateBoxData", to avoid issues when plugging it into the MR3020. PirateBoxData1 in the command below is just a different mount point due to the drives having the exact same partition names.
