Hi,
the video above describes the behaviour when the root filesystem partition is wrongly flashed. That usually happens when you try to recover to stock TPLInk firmware and do it wrong.
The only way to get your device working normally again is flashing via serial console and TFTPD :)
So I assume for 90% that it is recoverable using this method.
The image you find in the usb_only folder, are images that only contain the USB drivers and kernel modules, that you can use FAT or ext based usb sticks. There is no auto installer or something else.
I use them for installing OFFLINART packages or play around with different things.
The images are, like the others, based upon ATTITUDE Adjustment release of OpenWrt and you can still use the available kernel modules on their repository.
