Re: :(Very sure I bricked my MR3040.

Hi,
first of all: you MR3040 has a failsafe mode.
Bigger Numbers aren't better. The MR3020 and the MR3040 are technical identical, beside the fact, that the MR3040 has a battery included.

The howto from piratebox.cc will work for you, too. You only need a very thin pen or screwdriver to push the tiny reset button right beside the USB port.

I recommend the setup like written in the howto:

1. setup a ethernet cable based connection to the turned off box.
2. Setup a static IP Adress for your ethernet device: 192.168.1.2 / subnetmask 255.255.255.0 ; turn of your wifi card, if your home-wifi network has the 192.168.1.x ip range, too.
3. Open a command console and run
ping 192.168.1.1
.
I can't remember the option, but try to run it infinitively (as the box is offline, you won't get an answer).
4. Turn it on and keep repeatedly pushing the reset-button (do not hold).
5. when the ping starts to get a response,
6. fire up you putty and use telnet to connect to 192.168.1.1 - then you can follow the howto wit mount_root and passwd

regards Matthias
