at first, I don't think using 192.168.1.1 is useful on original firmware.

Is you Computer configured with a static IP like 192.168.0.253 and connected via ethernet cable?
In such cases it is very useful to ensure static conditions for further tests.
did switching the mode-switch help?
WPS/RESET: To use WPS function, please push the button for less than 5 seconds, and
then the WPS LED will flash; to reset the router, please push the button for at
least 10 seconds.
