Thanks for the reply.

Ultimately, I think it was the drive to blame. A brand name 8GB USB Flash drive works perfectly in both a MR3020 and a Raspberry Pi (V1).

I think I was just being a little ambitious/greedy trying to get the largest drive possible for my Piratebox.
