so I'm thinking of making my first piratebox however I wanted to know if the range on the wr703n can be extended. I found this guide online on how to open it up and solder a pigtail antenna.

The thing is I would like to increase the distiance by quite a bit more. Ideally half a mile omnidirectional but I would be ok with a quarter mile. I dont know much about antennas so I came to ask you. Would it be possible to follow the instructions on the guide then connect it to different antenna?
Say a fractal antenna, a cantenna or a wokfi?

I know that the cantenna and wokfi use a usb wifi but I wouldn't need that right? since the router is already sending the signal out. Any help on a way of extending the range on this thing would be great. Thanks.
