Trying to password protect

Let me start out by saying that I am a complete noob with networking.

I have installed PB on a new MR3020. I am attempting to PW protect the wireless signal for a couple of reasons (yes, I know this tends to flow against the spirit of the project). I can go into detail why if necessary. I found this thread:

which brought me to the openwrt wiki:

here's my problem: I so far have been able to log on to the network, so I think all has been installed correctly. I was able to telnet in. I can ssh in, but it brings me to:

root@piratebox

according to the steps above i need to get to:

root@openWrt.

any suggestions?
