I think I may have it: my USB drive has been blinking like crazy!
Used this link: [www.disk91.com] to set my box back to network-able and used SSH to break into it and re-download the openWRT directly to the box and then reflash it from there...
Emotionally draining, but I am very sure I've got it now!
Wanna load this thing up with mp3s from my vast collection of CDs and sneak it into my daughter's backpack when she leaves for school. ;)
I hope my mishap helps anyone else in the future! Have not decided if I will re-load networking on to this thing to have it on my local network, but at least now we know how!
