where did you download the .bin file?
when did you download the .bin file?
Do you see any other folders on the system?
Which how-to did you follow?

Can you login via failsafe mode and run

mount_root
/etc/init.d/boot start

(Some errors, and messages are expected.)

Then I need to get the output of the following commands:

 ls -la /mnt/ 
 ls -la /mnt/usb 
 ls -la /mnt/usb/PirateBox 
 ls -la /mnt/usb/install   
 ls -la /opt/piratebox 
 cat /etc/pbx_custom_image
 cat /etc/openwrt_release
 cat /etc/config/network
 cat /etc/config/wireless

(some might give an error as result, that is ok)
