I'm having mixed results now. Some times it works, sometimes it doesn't. Tried it with the USB, without, battery or plugged in.
I also have some wireshark captures of the traffic and I'm going to get my teachers to look at it.
It seems that the battery is strong enough to support the connection. The USB doesn't seem to be necessary for a computer to connect but my phone won't work without the USB.
I'll keep this up to date. I would love some other input though
