When upgrading the firmware I had started the installation over wifi to the 3040 thinking I was on ethernet. I then plugged it in to Ethernet on another computer and it seemed to continue and finish the upgrade. I then followed the rest of the install guide with no problems. But when I connect a device to the piratebox, the traffic is not being redirrected to piratebox.lan and even manually typing it in does not work.
EDIT: It appears to be working only if I manually go on a device that is connected to it and type the ip address 192.168.1.1
EDIT 2: example.com also seems to be working as a redirect to piratebox.lan. nothing else though will redirect
EDIT 3: Changed title to be more appropriate with what the actual problem seems to be
EDIT 4: So apparently it will redirect successfully as long as the website is not https which a friend has informed me that this is how it is supposed to work so then I guess my pirate box is set up correctly and has no issues?
