[SOLVED] PirateBox Network Config Help

Hello All,
First off thanks for this bit of software. Second, forgive my noobishnesh, but I prefer to look dumb while asking questions rather than be dumb with no answers. :)

Ok, so I read both the PirateBox DIY - OpenWrt tutorial and one that Pabell posted. I got to step #13 on the former and step #14 on the latter (i.e. I've ammended the Network Config file in vi). After I power off the router and power it back on, I go on to plug the MR3020 to my Home Router via ethernet. The MR3020 boots up with the Power LED and WPS/RESET LED all on and not blinking; the Ethernet LED is on and blinking. My home router does not detect that the MR3020 is on or connected. I have tried to connect my laptop via ethernet to the MR3020 and Windows tells me that it is connected but with no internet access.

I have tried SSHing into the MR3020 to the IP address I had assigned it in the Network config file (192.168.1.2) but I get a Putty Fatal Error window stating "Network error: No route to host". When I check the IP address the MR3020 assigns me (i.e. ipconfig in command line), under "Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection" I get 169.254.165.199 as the "Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address". The "Subnet Mask" is listed as 255.255.0.0 and the "Default Gateway" is blank.

I took a screen cast while I was flashing the OpenWRT that I downloaded off the guide on daviddarts.com and I went throught it to make sure that I had modified the Network config file per the instruction of the guides. All was done correctly.

I am using a Windows 7 (64bit) laptop
My MR3020 is Hardware version v1, Firmware version 3.14.2 Build 120817 Rel.55520n (the toggle button next to the Ethernet port is set to WISP)
My home router is a Netgear WRN3500L (IP: 192.168.1.1)

Hopefully one of you can help me. Any input is appreciated. Thank you
