thank you for you detailed post.
you are using an image from madox.net, that webpage seems to have compiled the needed packages for piratebox, so they are not in their repository.
You may use the latest trunk image from our repository http://stable.openwrt.piratebox.de/trunk/ - but it is not 100% clear if it is working with the old 0.6 piratebox (1.0 beta is not working :( )
