Re: WR703N extroot and swappable storage?

Hi Matthias,

Thank you for the detailed response.

I'll tell you what I did so far. So I curently only have a single USB port (hub hardware mod is in progress), I updated to 1.0 by flashing the custom openwrt image:

[beta.openwrt.piratebox.de]

Then I did auto-install using this:

[beta.openwrt.piratebox.de]

Next I tried to install imageboard, running kareha.pl did not work as it was advised before, I tried to install using the opkg cache from the installer above, but it said it was already installed, so I did:

opkg remove piratebox-mod-imageboard

then

opkg install -d ext /path/to/imageboardsomething.ipk

(pointing at the ipk in the cache folder).

This fixed the imageboard, and now I have a normal system running (Some version of 1.0, I'm not sure what version?) which is what most people will want, and should be happy with.

Next:

Next, I will finish the hub mod, and flash normal OpenWRT:

Then I'll install the opkg repository from your post.

I will extend the root onto an ext partition with an internal USB drive using standard root-overlay (fuse?), and add swap maybe.

Then I will Install piratebox:

opkg install piratebox

configure piratebox:

/etc/ext.config

so that ONLY the Shared folder is on the external storage (so I can hot swap it) for file sharing.

Finally I can install minidlna, and allow the piratebox to stream its contents to DLNA clients from any connected hard disk/pen drive.

Do you see any issues here, or do I have this about right?

Many thanks.
