How did you get it to work eventually? I also was trying to use a usb 3.0 drive to install and it failed. I was able to run mtd write -r open... firmware after I mounted /dev/sda to /mnt/usb, but still nothing in /opt or any piratebox goodness. Right now I have the install folder and the openwrt file on my usb 2.0 thumbdrive and an ethernet cable connected to my 3040 v2.3. I can telnet to the router and I see the openwrt splash ascii, but thats it. I don't see the PirateBox- Share Freely SSID on any of my wireless devices.
Thoughts?
