Seeking Help For Unconventional Parts Made Into A PirateBox

I have a Netgear N600 WNDR3700v2 router and a Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 1TB External Hard drive that I am looking
into making a Pirate box, I know some about computers but not enough to know how to set this up.

I run on a macbook OSX 10.9.2
